Makeup 101

Mastering the basics:
To prepare a smooth canvas for your makeup, always start off with clean, moisturized skin. You'll find that your makeup glides on and blends more easily.

1. Keep your skin free of buildup by using a gentle cleanser in the morning and at night. When cleansing your face, do so gently in upward motion stokes - do not tug, pull or scrub too hard to prevent irritation.
2. Freshen up your skin with a toner containing ingredients that suit your skin type.
3. Indulge your skin and keep it hydrated with a moisturizer that is compatable with your skin type. Make sure your daytime moisturizer contains SPF to protect your skin from the sun's harmful rays.
4. Treat yourself to an at-home-facial 2 to 3 times a week. Use a mild cleanser, then exfoliate with a gentle scrub that contains exfoliants that are round and non-abrasive.
5. Apply a facial mask after exfoliating. Rinse off thoroughly and get a good night's sleep!

Tip: Even when you're steering clear of the sun, or it appears to be a cloudy day, always be sure your makeup foundation or moisturizer contains SPF 15 or higher.

Secret to a natural, flawless look
1. Apply foundation to your cheeks, forehead, and chin using a foundation brush, sponge, or clean fingertips. Blend the foundation all the way to your natural hairline with long, light strokes.
2. Continue blending over the jawline and onto your neck to achieve a natural, seamless look. Check your face and neck in natural light to make sure the foundation is completely blended in all areas.
3. If under-eye circles or red spots remain, do not add more foundation; it can look heavy and cakey. Instead, try a concealer.

Tip: Choose the shade of your foundation carefully. When testing out shades, pick one that matches the tone of your jawline exactly. It helps to use a mirror outdoors to see how shades look in natural light.

Tip: Begin by applying a small amount of foundation then increase amount to achieve the degree of coverage that suits your skin.

Tip: For daytime, mix your foundation with a light SPF moisturizer before applying for a smoother, more sheer application.

Hide Imperfections
Concealer is more dense than foundation, allowing fuller coverage of trouble spots and hyperpigmentation (red areas). It can be used over foundation or on it own, and has greater staying power. Remember, a little goes a long way!

1. Since the skin under your eyes is more transparent, it tends to look dark, especially at the inner corner near the bridge of the nose. To even out the tone, concealer is a must. Using liquid concealer, gently pat over dark under-eye circles (don't sweep it across the entire area), then blend with your ring finger.
2. To cover trouble spots and imperfections, apply a thicker cream concealer onto the blemish or flaw. Then lightly press with a makeup sponge.

Tip: Choose the shade of your concealer carefully. When testing out shades, pick one that matches your skin tone or one shade lighter. It helps to use a mirror outdoors to see how shades look on your skin in natural light.

Tip: Prepare your skin with a light SPF moisturizer before applying concealer for a smoother application.

Getting an all day flawless look
A light even dusting of loose powder sets foundation and concealer, giving your face a velvety, more natural finish. It also provides smooth blending for any eye makeup or blush to follow.

1. Dip a puff or powder brush in loose powder. Shake off excess to avoid uneven distribution, then apply powder over entire face and neck.
2. To maintain a flawless finish throughout the day, apply pressed powder using a sponge or clean powder brush.

Tip: Face powder can be used alone, over foundation or over your moisturizer for a natural, sheer, no-shine look.

Tip: For the closest color match, choose a powder shade that is 3 shades lighter than your foundation.

Tip: If you are over the age of 30, avoid powdering under the eyes as it can make fine lines and wrinkles appear more obvious.

Tip: Facial oil-blotting sheets help to remove excess oil and shine without disturbing your makeup. Carry them with you everywhere you go!

Decorating 101

Francine Gardner's five rules for decorating like a pro:

1.Think Big Picture. Before you do anything, try to envision the space as you would an Impressionist painting, with its mood imparted by different shades and colors. Then select objects and finishes that will make your imagined room a reality.

2.Have a Plan. Use a floor plan to lay everything out. Make sure the space will function well, that the traffic flow works and that the furnishings' proportions are comfortable.

3. Surprise Yourself. Don't stick with what's expected. Find objects that are special and that you really love. Don't be afraid to
simply display them and let them be what they are, even if they serve no real purpose.

4. Hold Back. Accessories and art should be things you treasure. Don't just accumulate "stuff." It's better to leave a space empty until you've found exactly the right piece to fill it.

5.Go for Timeless. Choose things that won't date quickly and that you won't get tired of. But remember that timeless doesn't mean boring.

Organizing 101

I was trying to search on organizing tips and solutions so this is what I found . Great for those who don't know where to begin on organization

Tip #1: pick a room, clear it
The most important though most obvious organizing tip is the most important. It can be a big task to 'get organized', so pick one room you will focus on. Decide this in advance so you don't start organizing everywhere, and get nowhere. Once you've picked your room, remove anything that does not belong there. Stack excess items in the general room or area they belong before you get started.

Tip #2: stack
Before you begin the organizing project; stack. Stack, stack, and stack. In the room you've selected, stack everything into areas that belong together (magazines, books, blankets, pillows, candles, etc.). You are tidying the room, by stacking.

Tip #3: inventory and reduce
The most difficult step but most refreshing organizing tip is the inventory and reduce step. Within each stack of inventory items, you get to select your favorites. (Try to be strong and get rid of excess items!). If you know you don't want them in this room, put them in another to be re-organized later. Remember, you are trying to create the organized room of your dream!
Take a brief inventory of storage items available -- boxes, baskets, shelves, drawers -- depending on which room you are in, you are focused on understanding all your available storage solutions to 1) use for current items, and 2) determine storage and organizing solutions you need.

Tip #4: storage solutions - put it away
You've hopefully gotten rid of items that don't belong, are in excess, or you have been meaning to put elsewhere. Using baskets, boxes, shelves and the storage solutions available, put it away. Put the books with the books, blankets with blankets, pillows with pillows and so on.

Tip #5: invest in storage accessories
Where you realize you need home decor storage solutions, look for the items that suit your style and invest. A place for everything and everything in its place is a great storage solution long term. Contemplating

It's almost a new year! I want to start if off crisp. Although new beginnings have already yet to start, I want to stick to what I have made my choices. I know it doesn't clearly make sense to you, reader, but let me annotate on that. For starters, I feel independent now that i live sort of far from home. Okay, we'll thirty minutes doesn't seem like a great distance but when your not living with your parents and you know you have bills to pay than thats where things are altered. I now have to worry about budgeting my own money and whatever i get from school goes straight to my bank account. It takes out all the fun of not living under my parents roof and having to be lavish with free food, free clothes, free rent etc. But Im not full devastated for It was my choice to live away from home to focus on college. When you start getting used to living on your own, it really isn't that bad. Plus I don't feel to homesick, after all I live with my best cousin ever. Our parents do visit from time to time plus I go back to Delano on the weekends when I can. Our goal is to not miss a single family gathering. It's pretty much an invitation to "Free food" . Likewise, I already look forward for winter quarter. Everyday now is such a dull fucking day. The only events Im looking forward to are Christmas, New Years, and School. I think Im getting off topic.LOL. Well,I want to start the new year blissful and i want it to remain that way throughout. Im going to make sure of not letting nonsense predicaments get to me and break the habit of giving in to people.
